Life has a way of feeling full—sometimes too full—doesn’t it? Between raising my son, working full time, building dreams for the future, and managing the everyday chaos, it can feel like there’s never enough time in the day.

But if I’ve learned one thing, it’s this: balance isn’t about having equal time for everything. It’s about giving the right things your attention in the moment and being present where it matters most.

Prioritizing What Matters

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to be intentional with my time. With a little one in tow, a marriage to nurture, and dreams of a homestead on the horizon, I’ve had to get clear on what truly matters.

Some days, it’s the tasks that seem mundane—cooking dinner, folding laundry, or teaching Samson something new—that feel the most meaningful. Other days, it’s making time for my herbal work or spending an evening with Tysin just catching up on life.

It’s easy to let the to-do list rule our days, but I try to remind myself that the people around me—my family—are always more important than the tasks.

The Beauty of Setting Rhythms

In our home, we’ve found peace in creating daily and weekly rhythms that work for us. Whether it’s starting the day with coffee and devotionals, spending time outdoors, or carving out a Sunday afternoon for family rest, these moments help anchor us.

Rhythms don’t have to be complicated. They’re simply the small routines that bring consistency to your life and give you space to breathe. They’ve also taught me to slow down and embrace the simplicity of the present moment.

Accepting Imperfection

This one’s a biggie for me. I’ve had to accept that I can’t do it all—and that’s okay. There are days when the dishes pile up, emails go unanswered, or plans fall through. It’s humbling, but it’s also freeing to know that perfection isn’t the goal. Being present and intentional is.

Letting Faith Be the Anchor

When life feels overwhelming, I find so much comfort in turning to God. His grace reminds me that I don’t have to carry everything on my own. On hard days, a quiet prayer or a moment in His Word can bring so much clarity and peace.

Our lives may never be perfectly balanced, but when we keep Him at the center, everything else tends to fall into place.

Finding Joy in the Little Things

In the busyness of life, it’s the little things that often bring the most joy. Watching Samson’s curiosity as he explores the world, sharing a laugh with Tysin over a silly memory, or stepping outside to take in the beauty of an Oklahoma sunset—these moments remind me of why I work so hard to balance it all.

If you’re feeling pulled in a million directions, I hope you’ll remember this: balance isn’t something you achieve and forget about. It’s something you work on daily, offering yourself grace along the way.

Life will always be full, but that’s the beauty of it. When we learn to focus on what truly matters, we create a life that feels rich and fulfilling—even in the busiest seasons.
