Building our new house has been almost a year in the making. As each beam is raised and every nail is driven, it’s not just about creating a physical structure—it’s about building a life that reflects our values, our faith, and the legacy we want to leave for Samson.

In many ways, this house is a metaphor for how we see God working in our lives. Just as a home needs a strong foundation, so do our lives, rooted in His Word and guided by His hand. This project has challenged us, inspired us, and reminded us of the beauty of trusting in His timing, even when the process takes longer than we imagined.

Scripture as the Foundation

One of the most meaningful moments in our building process was when we wrote scripture on the walls before adding the sheetrock. With each verse, we prayed over our home, asking God to fill it with His presence and to bless all who step through its doors.

Some verses were chosen with purpose—Scriptures about love, peace, and protection that we hope will define the atmosphere of our home. Others were simply personal favorites, reminders of God’s promises and faithfulness. These words may now be hidden, but their truth is interwoven into the very fabric of this house.

For me, this act was a way of surrendering our house to God. It was a reminder that this isn’t just our home—it’s His.

The Slow Work of Progress

Building a house from the ground up has taught us the value of patience and perseverance. There have been delays, unexpected challenges, and moments of frustration. But with every step forward, we see God’s hand at work, reminding us that His timing is perfect.

This season of waiting has also been a lesson in gratitude. While we dream of the day when the house is complete, we’re choosing to cherish the in-between moments—the joy of planning, the pride in hard work, and the joy that comes with navigating the unexpected.

A Reflection of God’s Blueprint

As we design each room and make decisions about the details, we’re reminded of the intentionality of God’s design in our lives. Just as we’re thoughtfully crafting a space for our family to grow, He’s continually shaping and refining us, using every season and circumstance to draw us closer to Him.

Our house isn’t about perfection; it’s about purpose. We want it to be a place where people feel welcome, where love and laughter are always near, and where our faith is lived out everyday. Whether we’re hosting family dinners, helping Samson with schoolwork, or simply sitting on the couch on a quiet evening, we want this home to be a reflection of God’s grace and goodness.

A Legacy for the Future

One of the most exciting parts of this journey is imagining the memories we’ll create in our home. I picture family gatherings, quiet moments of prayer as the sun sets over our land, and if it’s God’s will, decorating a nursery again.

But more than the memories, we hope to leave a legacy of faith. Just as the scriptures written on these walls are a hidden foundation, we pray that the lessons we are living out will be an enduring influence on Samson’s life and the lives of everyone who walks in our front door.

Trusting the Master Builder

This house is more than a structure—it’s a testament to God’s faithfulness and provision. Every nail and every board is a reminder that He is the ultimate builder, crafting a life for us that is far more beautiful than we could ever design on our own.

While the work is far from finished, I’m learning to embrace the process, trusting that God is building something extraordinary—not just in our home, but in our hearts.
